Corgi Beach Day

On October 29th, Western Key Club had the opportunity to volunteer at Corgi Beach Day in Huntington Beach! This event took place very early in the morning requiring all the members to make sure they woke up bright and early in order to avoid the traffic and get there in time for when the shift started which was 8 am.

When we first arrived there was a large group of people helping out unloading the truck. They were taking out tables, chairs, and other things to help set up the tents that were going to be placed around the event. Since it was at the beach, it was a bit difficult in making sure the sand didn’t make you lose your balance. After initially removing everything that was inside the car, we were assigned different tasks depending what the coordinator needed to be done. Some of us moved tables around while others were putting different types of goodies into bags.

After a while, volunteers were told to open boxes, take out the drinks, and put them into these large containers. This required many volunteers to be opening the boxes with their keys, while others carried over the box to where the containers were, and dumping it into the container making sure not to shake the carbonated drinks. The overall process was actually pretty fun, even where we were just destroying boxes and making a pile of them.

As things settled down, volunteers were sent around to ask the vendors if they needed any help with anything. We even got to enjoy the event afterwards which was pretty amazing since there were many corgis around.
